Solder, Code, Repeat

(Re)Assembling Prototypes

A look inside the Viam Robotics Lab where we’ve been assembling our V2 Gambit prototypes. We’ve built and tested everything in-house — from circuit boards to 3D-printed casings, to soldered cameras and microphones. Every part is hand-assembled, stress-tested, debugged, and often torn apart and rebuilt before it ever touches a kitchen counter.

For Gambit’s tech to work, hardware and software have to evolve in sync. We run short, rapid engineering sprints so we can build, deploy, and quickly find root causes — whether it’s a voltage dip, a loose wire, a flaky network connection, microphone quality issues, an AI model failure, or a front-end bug. Tight build cycles shrink the room for errors and keep us shipping fast.

We’ve deployed prototypes with beta testers and are looking for more. If you love to cook and love tech, get in touch.
